Choquette Wins the Marion Edwards 100 at Orlando Speedworld

It was a beautiful night to be racing in Orlando Friday night as Jeff Choquette and Fountain Motorsports geared up for the Marion Edwards 100 on October 23rd followed by the Solar First Late Model 100 at New Smyrna Speedway on Saturday. Jeff qualified the #33 Late Model in the top ten and took the Green Flag in the 6th position. After a very clean first half of the race with limited caution flags, the front running late models of Tim Russell and Brandon Johnson tangled and subsequently went to the rear. This was all the motivation Jeff would need as his Late Model came to him with heat in the tires. Claiming the front of the Pack, Jeff would lead the remaining laps as he pulled away to victory. It was a great night for Jeff Choquette and FMS Racing as they jumped back into the swing of things and a very busy November to come.

After the nights rest, it was back to work for the Fountain Motorsports team as they set out to make it back to back wins, this time at New Smyrna Speedway in Samsula, FL. Jeff Choquette again qualifying in the top 10, but this time drawing the pole to start the 100 lap race. It became clear that Jeff’s car was set up for the long runs as he struggled on the restarts to fend off the very competitive pack. It also became clear that Jeff’s #33 machine would be able to fend off and lead the event if the racing was as clean as the previous night in Orlando. After 90 laps completed, Jeff was comfortable out front of the pack with a four car length lead. An unfortunate tangle in the back of the pack brought the race to a green-white-checkered finish. Jeff tried his best to hold off the competition as he took the green out front, but couldn’t manage to hold off Tim Russell and Brandon Johnson. Finishing in third place was a great end to a very successful weekend of racing and a great springboard into November.

Please stay tuned as the 2009 racing season wraps up and Jeff Choquette and Fountain Motorsports attempt to take the checkered flag in Concord, NC on Saturday November 7th for the North-South Shootout, at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA on Saturday November 14th for the 26th Annual World Crown 300, back at New Smyrna Speedway on November 21st for the 44th Annual Governor’s Cup and then at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL December 2nd-6th for the 42nd Annual Snowball Derby.
