Choquette leads 143 of 150 Laps at Hickory

After a successful day of practice Jeff Choquette qualified his #33 Late Model sixth out of a field of 36 racecars. With only 28 drivers scheduled to take the green flag, a 15 lap consolation, “last chance” event consisting of thirteen racers added the remaining six drivers to the final roster.  After drawing pills Jeff started the race in the second row on the inside in the number three position. At the conclusion of the first lap, Jeff was in second position and after a caution on lap seven, Jeff had passed  Cassius Clark for first place. With only one additional lead change taking place after Clark had a preferred line on a restart, Jeff led every lap until the conclusion of the race. Chase Elliott did a nice job in navigating his #9 Late Model through the field and into the number two position. Just before taking the white flag Chase made contact with the FMS Racing machine, causing Jeff to lose traction with what little rubber remained on his tires. Jeff put up a valiant effort to gain the lead back, but wouldn’t be rewarded as Chase Elliott had the preferred line and took it to the checkered flag.

The entire FMS Racing team is very proud of Jeff as he dominated the field throughout the night and took home a very respectable 2nd place finish.  The team received a needed confidence booster, as they take on the second half of the season poised to make some noise in the remaining ASA SAT Series races.
